Citizens'
comments are below. Each citizen who participated in the
project photographed Marine sites and then indicated
whether she or he thought the subject of the photograph
had a positive value or negative value.
Roads, Signs, & Hwy 95
Positives
- Judd and Berkey Streets are
peaceful little roads.
- It’s so quiet and safe that
people can walk down the streets without worrying
about cars.
- County 4 is narrow, slow, rolling,
aesthetic.
- The tunnel on 4 is the gateway to
town from the west.
- Judd St. has beautiful historic
houses along the river. Very walkable.
- Intersection of 4 and 95; maintain
stone walls and historic structures.
- We appreciate the huge crosswalk
sign and promoting a pedestrian friendly place,
even across 95.
- Narrow, country roads are a plus.
- Speed bumps are a plus in
neighborhoods with lots of kids- could use one on
Judd St.
- I value the No Snowmobile sign -
keep our streets safe and quiet.
- Intersection of 95 and Berkey St.-
low wetland, prohibit development.
Negatives
- 45 mph on 95: I would appreciate
this more if it were enforced. Better yet, I
would like to see this community organize to slow
down traffic to 25 mph (like Bayport).
- Work to reduce speed limit on 95.
It effects the entire town negatively.
- Slow the traffic on 95 - much too
fast for safety, too noisy.
- Don’t allow commercial
development on 95.
- I wish the highway didn’t cut
through town. I appreciate that Marine does not
cater directly to traffic on 95. No convenience
complex or McDonald’s- good!
- Cars travel too fast on County 4 -
would signs or speed bumps be appropriate?
- Why are so many big trucks
traveling on County 4? I suppose there will be
more once the development starts. Please be
conscious of those who live on 4.
- Bike path cracks and bumps - not
maintained once entering town from the north.
